Dearly Beloved in Christ,
Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. Let us thank our Almighty God for all the providence and the protection
in our daily walks of life. We are so thankful to you all for your prayers and support.
We observe July 3
rd
as St. Thomas day. The whole church remembers and
commemorates the life of St. Thomas, one of the apostles of our Lord and saviour
Jesus Christ. This year we are meditating on the theme ‘Discipleship as Readiness to
Die with Christ’. According to the tradition, St. Thomas played a significant role in
spreading the teachings of Jesus beyond the borders of Israel. He is believed to have
travelled to India to share the Gospel and establish Christian communities there. It is
said that he faced persecution, opposition, and eventually martyrdom for his faith.
St. Thomas’s life and ministry exemplify the essence of discipleship, which includes
readiness to die with Christ. His commitment to following Jesus, spreading the
Gospel, and facing persecution and martyrdom highlight the sacrificial nature of
discipleship and the transformative power of surrendering one’s life to Christ.
Our Sunday School has planned to conduct VBS from July 14th–16th and we are
ready to dive into another exciting theme “Twists and Turns: Following Jesus Changes
the Game”. Let us uphold our VBS in our prayers. May God begin to work in the
hearts of our children, softening their hearts to receive His word. May our VBS enable
our children to draw closer to God. Also, we are in the process of conducting adult
VBS (School of Gamaliel) on 22
nd
of July 2023.
Every Christian is called to serve Christ and His Church, but our spiritual gift shows
how we can particularly serve Him. What is God’s will for my life? What does He
want me to do as a Christian? What should be my Ministry? All these questions begin
to be answered when we understand our gift.
What does God want us to do with our spiritual gifts? We need to,” Rekindle the gift
of God that is within you” (2 Timothy 1:6)
We can Rekindle our spiritual gift by understanding our Christian life with some
pertinent questions.
What do you enjoy the most?
What make you feel accomplished or at ease?
What do people say they like or admire you?
What ministries or volunteer opportunities stir interest and make you feel good
about doing.
Let’s rekindle our spiritual gift. No matter what our gift is, they can be used for the
extension of God’s Kingdom.
May God bless you,
Rev. Santhosh Thomas, Asst. Vicar.
